With a leadership background in Henderson law enforcement, he also held responsibilities as a state assemblyman for 15 years. Richard Perkins’ roles at the capitol building in Carson City included Democratic floor leader, majority leader, and Speaker of the Assembly.

Known for his ability to work across party lines and create coalitions, Mr. Perkins was tasked with overseeing a $14 billion biennial budget that provided funding to 425 agencies statewide. He provided knowledgeable leadership at the operational and policy levels in areas such as energy, trade, gaming, health care, and public lands.
